This Sims 2 blog follows the lives of the Nuidya tribespeople of the southern plains, as they try to survive, thrive and figure out what exactly it means to be a dragonspark. Along the way, there'll be drama, romance, utter silliness, high-fantasy worldbuilder rambling and lots of cats. Just watch out for those storm demons - they're sneaky. :)

Mad Science

"Mad Science" is VT-speak for "got distracted fooling around with TS3 again". And boy, do I have a story to tell there.
So, as I mentioned last time, I've had glitches in my second hood, the one that overtook Kulo Seeri in the list of priorities when I suddenly had two rebuilding projects on my hands. (I am not a builder! If I never see the inside of Build Mode again it'll be too soon!) What to do when I need my playing fix? Goofy experiments with the TS3 premades, of course!

You see, I actually enjoy it as a short-term boost of something different (if I have a playable TS2 hood) or an antidote to building (if I don't). And this time, since I was missing KS, I thought I'd send a couple of young Nuidya off on a tour of TS3-era SimNation. Officially, they were trying to recruit new members for the tribe, since everyone's still everyone else's cousin, after all. Unofficially, they were whooping it up in the big city and taking full advantage of the fact that the elders weren't looking. :)

Larkspur zan-Avei and S'Ahmisa zan-Ace, both 18, started their adventure in a high-rise building in Bridgeport, and immediately started experiencing all the things Kulo Seeri wouldn't touch with a ten-foot spear: wow, this little gadget lets you talk to someone halfway across the hood! This pizza stuff is great, what is it - do you hunt it or gather it? How do those little Sims get inside the box like that? What do you mean, those little waterfalls on that sinky thingy aren't supposed to run all the time?

For a while, the three of us had fun experimenting with everything from university to fast food. There was also a lot of dabbling with the evil arts: namely science and gardening. (Nuidya consider growing food unnatural.)

And the next thing I knew, S'Ahmisa was facing a midlife crisis, and her son Asken (from a brief romance with a premade Sim) was about to transition to young adult. Yikes. Talk about losing track of time.

The  family line-up at that point was: S'Ahmisa zan-Ace, son Asken, probable future daughter-in-law Tia (Asken's former imaginary friend - they fell in love right after becoming teens and are probably the cutest Sim couple I've ever had!), and plantbaby Zade (result of science-and-gardening craze mentioned above), as well as Larkspur, her husband Beau (a premade vampire Sim who bears an uncanny resemblance to Beretu of the third-gen Nuidya, who became a vampire himself as a teen; my theory is that Beretu survived the Great Plague, wound up in TS3 territory, fathered a son at some point and then died) and their newborn son Tiolata.

Maybe it's the trait system, maybe it's having watched them grow up instead of the "rebuild, fast-forward a few months, glitch, repeat" style of aging KS tends to use, but I feel like I know the kids that resulted from this experiment better than any of my current Nuidya bunch. I'd actually feel bad about writing them out of the script (so to speak) if I picked up KS where I left off, but I don't want to jump another twenty years - I've done too much of that. I'm not sure where to go from here...

  1. Just enjoy playing. Keep playing ts3 maybe you will like playing it a bit more and then you can switch to ts2, do whatever gives you the most joy

  2. I can understand growing weary of playing, then rebuilding, that makes it hard to connect with your sims, because it's so much work to set it up, and then you are half-expecting it to crash and burn. Maybe have a second blog, and post TS3 pictures there, I'd love to see them anyway! :)
