This Sims 2 blog follows the lives of the Nuidya tribespeople of the southern plains, as they try to survive, thrive and figure out what exactly it means to be a dragonspark. Along the way, there'll be drama, romance, utter silliness, high-fantasy worldbuilder rambling and lots of cats. Just watch out for those storm demons - they're sneaky. :)

Mad Science

"Mad Science" is VT-speak for "got distracted fooling around with TS3 again". And boy, do I have a story to tell there.

Sick Of This Hiatus Now

And that's not the only thing I'm sick of. Once again I say a big fuzzy sorry to my readers.

Something on the Side

Well, I'm about to embark on Operation Rebuild Kulo Seeri Again. While I go trawl through the Dragon's Hoard and its now 55.2 GB of downloaded stuff for anything that might look good in the new KS, why don't you take a look at a few candid snapshots from rotation 31 in my side hood?

Excuses, Excuses...

OK, so I've left my readers waiting a couple of months. Again. I humbly apologise.

I can only blame my side hood, which is now up to a record thirtieth rotation and a population of 48 Sims, thirty more than its original founder population and only two fewer than the current KS line-up. That and my old friend Seasonal Affective Disorder has flown home for the winter so it's hard to motivate myself to do the set-up stuff for KS (still between rebuilds).

When it is back up and running and I'm blogging again, the story will pick up around six months after I left off, in early spring of the Nuidya year 98. There will be a few new arrivals, including newborn twins for one family and an estranged relative of another (I won't say who yet) and things will look a little different. I imagine the six-month hiatus will have been taken up with new construction. :)

By the way: I am trying. If I don't have a story update by the end of next month I will have been a very naughty VT and I will thwack myself repeatedly with a banana plush toy, seriously.

Tutorial: Changing Recessive Genes

This tutorial is for Starrsim, who recently posted on her tumblr about wanting to learn how to alter genetics and recessive traits. I did a spot of research, and thought I'd string it all together in tutorial format (with handy pictures) for her and for anyone else who might be interested in it.

Can't Stand the Heat

So. Another long hiatus that I must now make excuses for.

Falling With Style

Ever played that "good news, bad news" game? I feel like that's the way things are going for me at the moment.

Six Years Too Many?

So. I've been thinking in between bursts of intense online gaming.

Did I say Thursday? I meant July.

A big Uber-Yoober-Mondo-Sorry to anyone who's been waiting for updates from Kulo Seeri.

Previews and Thanks

Nearly done rebuilding (and I know I say that a lot, but I really am nearly done this time!) I should be back to my semi-regularly scheduled blog by Thursday at the latest. This is what Kulo Seeri looks like right now: (preview under the cut!)

6th Birthday Special: Blast from the Past

OK, so the actual sixth anniversary of the creation of the Nuidya isn't until tomorrow (April 16th is another two hours away in Rainy England as I write this), but I just couldn't wait to get this post up. First, because it's an actual update (sort of); second, because it's the first update coming from my new state-of-the-art gaming computer, which means I will soon be playing and blogging regularly again! Yay!

It's because of the new computer that I have this update now, actually. While I was transferring my files from my old computer to my external hard drive, I came across a backup of the original Nuidya hood - including all its pictures. I took loads in those days - the hood was originally a very, very bad alphabet legacy, which it has (thankfully) outgrown. So I decided to bring all my one reader my top 15 favourite nostalgic snapshots... but be warned, there are a lot of embarrassing confessions about my goofy younger self's goofy playstyle ahead, as well as enough ret-conning to choke a comic writer. :)

Finally Nearly There

OK. I lied. Something came up that got in the way of my rebuilding efforts. I'm sorry that I've kept whoever reads this waiting for longer than I said it would take.

However, I am starting to feel that Nuidya culture has outgrown the game mechanics (again). I'm planning to write a series of novels about them instead of playing them as a Sims neighbourhood. Until that day comes, though, I'll still be blogging. Watch this space!

Getting Back On Track Again

Just to let anyone who's been waiting for regular updates know that I expect to be back to blogging by mid-February. I've been trying to stay on top of my rebuilding but stuff just keeps getting in the way.
