This Sims 2 blog follows the lives of the Nuidya tribespeople of the southern plains, as they try to survive, thrive and figure out what exactly it means to be a dragonspark. Along the way, there'll be drama, romance, utter silliness, high-fantasy worldbuilder rambling and lots of cats. Just watch out for those storm demons - they're sneaky. :)

Tour of New Kulo Seeri, Part 1

There still isn't quite enough happening for story posts, so I want to show you all some of the lots I've built for Kulo Seeri this time round. There are actually too many to fit in one reasonable sized post, so the next part will come tomorrow or during the weekend.

That being said, on with the tour:

Kulo Seeri's food stores, where everything that's been hunted or foraged that the tribe doesn't need right now is set aside for later. It contains sacks of food that can be used to buy groceries from, made by Sophie-David at Plumb Bob Keep, so if anyone runs out of food in the middle of winter... this is where they go.

The village centre, as seen in my Ancestor's Day post. Including a stone circle that acts sort of like a calendar: each stone represents one of the eight Nuidya elements of air, earth, fire, freshwater, saltwater, stone, wood and metal. An invisible basketball hoop disguised as a tree, some fallen logs to sit and chat on, a tree swing and a memorial to the ancestors (that sword chair at the edge of the picture) are also part of the lot.

Just outside the village is this little bit of scrubby ground that serves as a training area for hunters and anyone else who wants to show off their athletic prowess. Contains duel and punch dummies, invisible treadmills, axe and knife throwing, and a few climbing walls for any children who might be tagging along while big brother works on his aim.

This forest clearing is a favourite spot for healers to gather herbs. That's all. It's totally not also a common retreat for amorous couples. Ignore Kim and Zareb there. Ahem.

One of my foraging lots, this one's a blackberry patch. Its main use is producing the harvestable berries, but all the foraging lots are also social places. You don't just go wandering off alone to gather berries. There could be a bear about.

Fishing spot #1: Moon Lake. Not much to say about this place yet, still a WIP, but it sure is pretty!

Grandmother Grove is technically another foraging lot, with pear trees. But it's also at the base of the holy mountain shamans climb to commune with the ancestors, so this place is also dedicated to the Nuidya equivalent of Mother Earth, known as Grandmother Kedra (meaning "omnipresent spirit"). It's a wedding and party venue as well as producing tasty fruit, and again there's a stone chair as a monument to the dead (you can just see it behind Casey and Nate).

Beach lot #1: Fisher's Beach. In my head this is where they start sea fishing trips from, and it's also where they cook their catches (see those spits? One of them even works as a grill!) and soak in the hot spring by the sea.

Coral Beach is still unfinished, but will be more recreational (swimming, invisible soccer goal (again disguised by trees), and of course pretty coral and other underwater shinies.

Finally, another foraging/fishing lot, Plum Lake. Mainly for putting food on the table, but Sims will sometimes head out here to enjoy the natural beauty, socialise and birdwatch (Markal, you nitwit, put those away! Nuidya haven't invented binoculars yet.)

VT says: Building still isn't my favourite task, but I'm getting better at it and I'm really happy with the results so far! Next post will show a few more community lots and the interiors of some of the houses.

  1. Wow, you have really made a fascinating world. Pre-historic times have always fascinated me and I love watching your Kulo Seeri develop.

    1. Thanks for your comments, Shannon! I'm glad you like the lots. I put loads of work into them and I'm still not finished, but it's developing really well, much better than any past version.
